She had the softest eyes I have ever known
Brown ones, sheltered with feathery lashes.
Although soft they also were keenly lucid
And envisioned eternity and the unseen with remarkable clarity.
Her observations of the meaning of life from minutiae
Was that of an Artist.

Her voice was the softest I have ever heard,
A velvet sound that concealed a great inner strength. That when angered, though it sounded weak,
Its velvet fluster revealed a steely bulwark
One could not thwart.

She seemed spiritually synergistic.
Where the power of the whole of herself
Was greater than her parts.

Her hands were those of a mother.
Their shape and expression were feminine
But could dig and hammer and mold
Man, earth, beast and child.

Her will to endure excelled the strength of her body,
Survived her through neglect and abuse in childhood,
Fed her when her little hands dug for food in a garbage heap,
And carried her longer than any one could imagine.

Although at times desperately impoverished
She held unmeasured riches within.

In many ways she was a Heavenly paradox.
She was a unique woman
That legend and poems are made of.
No one but God knows the depth of her.

She taught me many things,
The secret to art, music, healthful living.
But most important her love melted my angry heart,
Then she taught me that I, too
Could know God.
Like her favorite song, 'I Come to the Garden Alone,'
She taught me the joy of meeting with Him, early each day.
And that the complexity in knowing God
Rests in its simplicity.

Patricia Ann kept the faith of her youth
Unto her last breath, and
She is now resting in peace with God.
