Dan Brown was not the first to come up with these theories. I have attended classes in my church regarding this. For the most part they stated that just remember it is fiction and makes a good story.

As a student for a few decades I would like to comment on the DaVinci code subject.True, it is fiction and at the same time it has a powerful message directed to those who are dissappointed with christianity as it has become two thousand years since our Lord and Savior walked the Earth.
Of course this message has no bearing on a mature born again christian. Unfortunatly, many take the name of christianity lightly. Many christians do not really understand the real salvation plan and how only an almighty magnificent Creator could devise such a great salvation plan based only on the choice of the individual. Compare it with other religions. Some say just love everything and everybody and all is ok for "Nivana". Others say convert or we shall kill youM.Most are based on self gratification. Now that has a wide appeal. But as we violate the principals set force by our Creator we always reap results. This is the reason for all the hunger ,violence, wars, hatred etc.All this came from choices of ancesters. The Creator does not cause all the problems they are only a result of bad choices made in the past. The wonderful salvation plan offered by our Creator allow us to really have a new start no mater what our past has been. It must be a real choice from the heart. It cannot be mere words.
Back to the DaVinci code. This is a work done by someone who does not understand this great salvation plan. He is not alone and unfortunatly many subcribe to this school of thought. Why do you think it has sold over forty five million copies ? Someone is searching. In the past I have been one of those "intellectual" searchers. It was not enough for me to read and study,I had to go there first hand. So that found me in Egypt,India, Thailand,Philippines, Burma, China and many other foreign places just to get to know the culture. After years of this I returned and realized that the basic christian principals taught to me by a real christian Mother was a great blessing and I need not search anymore. My dear friends do not confuse the term church, christianity and mislead christians with the salvation plan. They are most definitly like comparing apples and oranges. Most believe in the spirit world. In that world there are angels of influence and a Creator of it all. Also there are creatures from the darkside who have a leader. So the warfare is on a spiritual level. We come in contact with this world as we leave beta brainwave frequency toward alpha and on down.So we must be aware that the other side is after all all of us.So the choice is ours . To whom do we listen ?If we think that this life of 70 to 80 years or so is all there is we may desire for the material and lustful desires to be satisfied. If we really understand what the salvation plan is we may be happier and make different choices. It is up to us and our understanding of the truth and so called fiction like the DaVinci code. It is a tool that is taking many down the wrong path. May all our eyes and ears be open for the spiritual truth and not a mere intellectual satisfaction of the mind and further gratification of material and physical desires. Blessings to all,Davidboy

When the writer of a book states from the onset that it is FICTION - a NOVEL, then why all the hoopla? It is no more factual than spiderman or wonderwoman! It's fiction, folks, and when the writer says that, then why do we even bother discussing something obviously unreal.

I would not spend one dime of my money either purchasing a book or viewing a movie where my Lord, who died for me, is degraded to the form of a man who would mate with a mortal. That was not His purpose on this earth and to insinuate anything like that is blasphemous. He did not come here to make babies and populate the world with god/men or god/women. He came to seek and to save mankind.

If people would concentrate on the Bible as much as they have generated brain-power on the DaVinci Code, this world would be a much better place because we would learn about TRUTH and the creator of TRUTH, God Himself. We wouldn't need any code to determine His everlasting love and sacrifice for us.

Several months ago, I heard about this Da Vinci Code movie/book. You know where I heard about it? On Christian Television. There was much talk about how it threatened the deity of Christ and how we as Christians should not spend our time or money on it.

Then there was talk of litigation regarding the movie being a plagerized story. The litigation held up the release of the movie for a while.

Then the movie came out. It was number one for the first week, and fell quickly as other movies came out. Now I reflected on this. I have looked at regular television and noticed that there aren't many ads out for the movie. I have seen one billboard add and no bus side ads for the movie. Yet it was number one the first week that it came out. Why is that? The answer is simple. Christians spoke of the movie so much that it sparked interest and some people (Christian or non) felt that they just had to see what all of the hoopla was about. I think that the makers of the movie are sitting back laughing. They didn't have to spend much on advertising. There is such a thing as benefits of negative advertising.

As one writer mentioned, God can withstand any scrutiny that man can drum up (I would add that the enemy could drum up). If Christians hadn't paid so much attention creating negative publicity for the movie, it might not have been as successful as it was. And, as you can see, some of the writers on this site felt that they just had to see the movie to find out what all of it was about. Thanks for giving your money to the author of the book and the makers of such a film. You contributed to it's success, as did your friends for adding to the negative publicity. No, I didn't see the movie or read the book. As Nannette said, never study the counterfeit. Only focus on truth and you will be able to spot a lie a mile away. The problem with filling our minds with fiction is that we open ourselves to being confused. There may come a time when we need to recall something and we won't remember if it came from a movie, book, or the Bible. Do not leave room to be deceived by the enemy.

That's what I think.

while i fully and completely beleive this book was soley intended to be a fictitious account, i understand not everyone recognizes fiction. just as orsen wells very well taught us decades ago.

i agree with nanette that we should really be studying what god says, rather than digging up proof that a fictitious book is actaully.... fictitious.

i have read the book (a friend told me i had to read it) and it is well written. there are the subtle facts that make you wonder, but it has so much "fiction" about it that it screamed fiction to me as i was reading it. i returned the book without too much more to think about it.

then

all this hoopla about how it could be real and whatever. i mean mr brown never suggested it was an accurate account. he never suggested his "theory" was even actually a theory. he only wanted to make a million dollars and he more than accomplished that.

i think as christians we should just simply laugh when the story is mentioned and say i am not much into fiction myself. lol.

seriously though, we should warn those around us that are a bit more naive and less strong. but i think this huge ourpouring of sentiment only encourages the fire to be built stronger, rather than weakening the flames and extinguishing them.
